Tea at the Wolseley

By Leslie · Comments (2) · April 1st, 2010

How very proper of us to go to tea while we are in London!  We went to the amazing Wolseley which I highly recommend!!  The service, food and most of all tea were incredible!!  And it's next door to The (original) Ritz!

Here's me sipping some tea (I went with the house blend, which was fab!):

And our tower of food:

Oh yes, we had scones with jam and clotted cream, all sorts of pastries, and the cutest little tea sandwiches!  Ours included cucumber, lox, roast beef, egg salad and cheese.

Definitely check it out next time you are in London!

The Tate Olives

By Leslie · Comments (2) · March 31st, 2010

After checking out St. Paul's cathedral in London, we walked over the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern Museum.  There is a lovely cafe on the 7th floor.  You can take in the wonderful view and enjoy the delicious food!!  Including these awesome olives!

Recreating these at home:

What you'll need:

Large pitted green olives

The pulp of an orange, cut into little segments

Olive oil

Fresh cracked salt and pepper

Fresh chopped oregano

What you'll do:

Stuff the olives with the orange pulp and place in a bowl.  Toss with olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper.  And there you go!  Easy as can be and very delicious!

Here is my pumpkin soup I had that was fabulous!  If you'd like a similar recipe, check mine out for butternut squash soup.

Mediterranean Salad at the Portobello Market

By Leslie · Comments (2) · March 30th, 2010

Oooh I love street markets!!  Especially ones with amazing food!  This is the market I stumbled upon in the Notting Hill area in London.  And a fabulous adaptation recipe for a Mediterranean salad!  Enjoy!

Here is the amazing Mediterranean Salad!  If I was going to recreate it, I would do something like this:

1 English cucumber, sliced and quartered

1 red onion, sliced and quartered

1 large basket of cherry or small tomatoes

1 carton of kalamata olives, or your favorite ones

1 container or ricotta or feta cheese (which was used here) at room temperature

a splash or red or white wine vinegar

salt and pepper to taste

Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and stir : )

Here are some more pictures of the great market:
