Visiting Farm Sanctuary was the highlight of my week! I am already planning when I can go back! Farm Sanctuary is a wonderful organization that rescues farm animals and lets them live out their days on beautiful farms across the country. I visited the location in Acton, CA. It’s about 45 minutes from Los Angeles. It was a lovely drive and upon arriving I was greeted by the the sounds of roosters and pigs and cows! Farm Sanctuary is not like a zoo. They treat these animals more like pets than livestock. You get to pet and play and scratch all the animals! It was so fun!!! Check out some of the pictures of my day:
This is Kelly, our lovely tour guide for the day
Look at these beautiful faces!! In the picture below you can see where this cow has a scar on his side. He was attacked by coyotes and the farmer who owned him used duct tape to close his wound and sent him to the slaughterhouse. Farm Sanctuary intercepted and properly bandaged him up. Now he’ll get to have a fantastic life!
This place is really special! You’ve got to come visit! They have an open house every Sunday. Bring a picnic lunch and make a fantastic day of it! Here’s the link for more information: Farm Sanctuary
