My friend Tam Ashworth owner of Isari Flower Studio had the genius idea to co-teach a floral/cooking class! I of course love this idea because what do I love almost as much a food? Flowers We decided that Tam would create an edible flower arrangement and I would include edible flowers in my food.
We headed to the Leucadia farmers market to get some inspiration. I have to say, this is my favorite farmers market I’ve been to in San Diego! There was so much fabulous produce and the friendliest artists and vendors. Definitely check it out! We found it our inspiration immediately! If you follow me on Instagram then you saw me post about these GORGEOUS artichoke blooms we found! As soon as we laid eyes on them we new we had to use them! These blooms are beautiful, but not edible. You can boil them to create a tea full of antioxidants. Tam decided to use these in the arrangements and I decided to get the non-blooming artichokes and I’d grill them up. We also found a huge selection of lettuces and herbs. I got inspired by the boston lettuce to create a “blooming” salad. You can find the recipe here.
Tam created beautiful arrangements using lettuce, kale, chamomile, lavender, sage, lemon verbena, basil, mint, bay leaves, peaches, rosemary, fennel, and parsley! They turned out so pretty!!
Tam and I definitely plan on doing more classes, sign up for my newsletter on the right if you would like to be kept informed!
