As a gal who never wants to sacrifice style for sustainability, I’m always elated to see a high fashion house do their part to be a little more eco-concious. So bravo to Gucci who just launched their “liquid wood” sunglasses!
They are made up from sustainable managed forests and natural wax which makes these frames not only chic, but biodegradable as well! These glasses are just the next step in many that Gucci is starting to make. In 2010 they replaced all their plastic laminated shopping bags with bags that are 100% recyclable. They have also been making efforts to reduce their carbon footprint by reducing their trucks by 30%. Here is a quote from Patrizio di Marco, President and CEO of Gucci, “The world’s leading brands are rightly judged today, not just on the quality of their products and services, but also on the way they act in the community and towards the environment. Since 2004 Gucci has volunteered for assessment to qualify for the certification of Corporate Social Responsibility across its entire supply chain.”
So while I’m still waiting for Gucci to ditch the leather they use…. I have two words about these sunglasses… I WANT!

wow those are gorgeous!
