I really don't know what to say about City Tavern. . . I'm someone who usually sees the best in everything, but I'm not sure if there is anything "best" about this restaurant/bar.
City Tavern is located in Culver City, CA which is a very up and coming adorable neighborhood. City Tavern sets itself apart with individual beer taps at every table. Seems cool right? No need to flag down a server when you're thirsty! Well, not quite… See, your server only allows you a certain amount of beer at a time so basically you have to call then over to give you more fairly often. Not to mention our waitress was not the nicest.
One good thing is that 2 of the 3 taps were vegan beer : )
You get this little screen below the taps that allows you to see how much of each beer you are drinking. Cool, but gimmicky.
The ambiance is not that spectacular either; very stereotypical "bar" decor.
So food. Not many options on the menu. I ordered the grilled vegetable crudite and garlic french fries.
The vegetables were blah. It consisted of over cooked asparagus, canned grilled artichokes, pepper (that I wish someone told me were spicy) and 6 little olives. This dish was $13.00! I also ordered the toasted garlic french fries which were ok. Nothing special. I'll also say that my husband and his friends all got the burger and none were satisfied with those either.
So, I'd say skip it. I think there are way better places in the area.
