These are one of my favorite snacks! Yes, they are fried, yes they are salty, yes they are delicious, and yes, they are addictive! My Grandmother made a version of these and me and my siblings always loved them! So how do you make these delectable treats you ask? They are so simple! Here you go:
Bowtie Pasta Crunchies
What you’ll need:
1 lb. bowtie pasta
the juice of 1 lemon
a handful of parmesan cheese (optional)
kosher salt to taste
What you’ll do:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add in the bowties and a handful of salt. Cook halfway. Drain.
Working in batches, transfer some bowties into about 1/2 cup hot vegetable oil.
When the edges get golden, flip. Remove once golden on both sides. This process is very fast. Careful not to burn yourself : )
When they are golden remove from the pan and immediately toss with some salt, lemon and parmesan. Repeat the process till they are all fried.
These can be served immediately or within a couple days.
Enjoy!

These look awesome!! I think I’ll have to make these today since they seem like a good rainy day snack.

They really do sound like an addictive snack. How about using whole wheat pasta? I guess the frying might negate that, eh? LOL
Yum! I wonder if a cinnamon and sugar version can be made…
I was wondering the exact same thing.. Im going to try it tonight..
Colleen and Toni, I would bake at 350 for about 10-20 minutes depending on how much you fried them. Please let me know how it goes
These look really good and simple enough to make! Must try.
Those look so delicious! I’ll be giving that a try this weekend.
Well, awesome is the word!

Thank you, found it!
This is a wonderful snack idea. We dont like parmesan cheese so I think I will try this with ranch or chili seasoning, what do ya think?
Great idea Lorie! I don’t do dairy anymore, so I love to sprinkle them with some garlic salt
I just made these. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!! I only made a tiny batch, just in case they didn’t turn out well. These crackers are so adorable and tasty that I can’t wait to make more!
oh yay! That makes me so happy
Hi, thought I’d let you know that I tried these but did them a little differently.
Once I had cooked them half way, I spread them out onto a baking tray, sprayed them with some oil and baked them in my oven. I turned them half way through, gave them a quick spray and then they were done. turned out just as good, but slightly more healthy.
Hope you don’t mind me telling you this.
Love it Lia! Thanks for sharing!
What oven temp did you use and for how long? I love the baking option. I have several food allergies and not alot of “crunchy” snack options so I definetely want to try this!!
Just made these before work…quick! and soooo good. I made mine with mini bow ties and added some garlic to the frying oil. I seasoned with crushed red pepper flakes, parmesian, sea salt and paprika. They are not going to last long!!! I will be making some more tonight!
Awe that’s great Gayle! Those sound tasty!
I made these tonight for my family.. But i used cinnamon and sugar!! Well MY KIDS LOVE THEM and so does my hubby.. Thinking about making them again for our road trip to Utah.. Thanks for coming up with this recipe…
I’m so happy to hear that Colleen! Have fun on your road trip!
My husband makes a similar version with elbow macaroni. It is so yummy.
My daughters wedding is a few weeks away and she wanted wheat thins for the spinach dip…but these sound so good, I think I will make a batch and use her and my future son-nlaw as taste testers …Thanks for posting !!!
Congratulations Diane!! And YES! These will be perfect with your spinach dip
