Growing Heirloom Tomatoes

So, I kinda love gardening!  The only issue is, I have no ground to plant!  But of course I don't let this stop me!  We have a large balcony so my gardening is all done in pots.  One of my favorite things to grow is tomatoes.  You can never have enough and you can always puree and freeze them.  My favorite are those really funky delicious heirloom tomatoes.  The most simple way to grow them is this:

Go to your local farmers market or grocery store and purchase an heirloom tomato.  When you slice it on the cutting board, don't throw away the seeds, plant them. : )  I slide them straight from the cutting board to the soil in a pot.  Water them all winter and by spring you will have some nice little plants to put outside in larger pots.

Do you rinse the seeds before you put them in the pot?
