Last night Sim and I went out to dinner to "Mexico" a mexican restaurant (duh) newly opened in West Hollywood. Right on Santa Monica, cross street La Cienega. You can't miss it; it's bright pink! The decor is fabulous! It feels like you are in Mexico, well a cleaner, prettier Mexico. Our waitress Erika was extremely helpful and sweet! They have a great Happy Hour everyday from 5-7pm. This means $4 beers, $5 margaritas, and $7 appetizers! We had the house margaritas which were tasty. The chips and two salsas they bring to the table are really good! And we got the house made guacamole, which was also pretty good. Then by Erika's recommendation, I had the Wood Fired Chile Rellenos with queso Oaxaca, spinach with salsa negra for $14 and Sim had the Cilantro Cumin Carne Asada (Skirt) con cebollitas, avocado y escabeche for $16. Both were very good. Bottom line: it's not the best Mexican food I've ever had (I did grow up in San Diego) but it is pretty yummy and satisfies your cravings! Give it a try if you are in the neighborhood!
I have to make one side note. I write this as I'm watching Dirty Dancing for the 10,000th time. I truly feel like Patrick Swazye's talent was so amazing! He has the ability to be incredibly masculine and insanely graceful at the same time! He has been a part of my life since I was a kid and first saw him on TV. I had a crush instantly! His movies are some of my favorite! Aside from the obvious, he was in a tv mini-series called, "North and South" that is one of the best movies I've ever seen! Set in during the Civil War, Swazye plays the son of a Southern plantation owner who's life we get to follow. Really a great piece of work! My love goes out to Patrick's family and friends!
